Previous page. First game of the 2018-2019 season National Premier League. 4 August. Away to Salford. 1-1 (own goal/Clay). Fielding 1 Brill, 2 Ling, 6 Coulson, 4 Lawless, 3 Widdowson, 5 Elokobi, 19 Koroma, 8 Clay, 7 McAnuff, 27 Alabi, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 11 Dayton(Koroma 81), 16 Brophy(Lawless 58), 21 Ekpiteta, 22 Lee(Ling 82), 24 Sargeant we went a goal down two minutes after half time. Nobody picked up the crosser, Lloyd or the scorer, Gaffney. Two minutes from time a deflected shot from Clay found the net to give us a point. His shot was going well wide as you can see on Video highlights. Their Hogan swung a leg at Clay’s ‘shot’, it hit the leg he was standing on and went into the net. Home to Ebbsfleet next . They lost at home to Chesterfield then home to Barrow who beat Havant 3-0. 7 August. Home to Ebbsfleet. 1-1 (Brophy). We didn’t have an attack for the first 18 mins then broke away with a neat pass from Alabi finding Bonne who cut back for Brophy to side foot home. Elokobi went off after three minutes to be replaced by my man of the match Ekpiteta. Ebbsfleet had three players booked and look clinical in taking players out. Not sure why they didn’t have more booked especially how Weston didn’t get sent off though he was taken off. Their goal in the first minute (of four) added time took a deflection past Brill. Too many players having an off day, Ling, Widdowson who failed to cut out most crosses. Clay + Lawless = hopeless. We improved with the departure of Lawless for Lee. Brophy was replaced by Koroma after repeated fouls against him. Team: 1 Brill, 2 Ling, 6 Coulson, 4 Lawless, 3 Widdowson, 5 Elokobi, 16 Brophy, 8 Clay, 7 McAnuff, 27 Alabi, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 11 Dayton, 21 Ekpiteta(Elokobi 3), 22 Lee(Lawless 75), 24 Sargeant, 19 Koroma(Brophy 67. Down to 13th. Chesterfield are top whilst Dagenham, Maidenhead and Eastleigh remain pointless. Adams received the sort of reception you would expect of someone who had spurned the chance of playing for your club. Video highlights. Ex O’s on the move: Dean Cox has signed for Eastbourne Borough who play in the National League South. Moses Odubajo left Hull for Brentford for free. He hasn’t turned out for Hull for the last two seasons due to two serious injuries. He was linked with at £12m move to Celtic but out of contract decided to join Dean Smith on a years contract with the option of another. Nathan Clarke has signed for FC Halifax Town. Aldershot Town have signed striker Dan Holman. Simon Downer has been released by Sutton. Former manager Omer Riza has joined Watford’s academy set-up as a coach. I’m going to keep a record of injuries and Elokobi is the first one with a hamstring problem. Took him 93 mins to get it. 11 August. Home to Barrow. Ekpiteta kept his place and was still my man of the match. Lee was preferred to Lawless and Happe moved to the bench. We let in an early goal on 4’ and the Barrow decided to waste time. That lead to five minutes of added time in both halves. It was only ten minutes following the second half that we drew level through Bonne and he put us in the lead following a fine pass by Koroma who had replaced Alabi 15’ earlier. Five minutes later Ling decided it was easier to kick the ball into the stand rather that up field and Barrow scored from the throw in after what looked like a foul on Brill. We still have a problem with Ling and Widdowson and the midfield is still looking iffy. We have yet to find Alabi’s strong points but he is not a target man as he cannot head the ball. Needs to be playing behind Bonne to get the flicks on or running at the goal with the ball at his feet. Neither of which happened today. Four Barrow players were booked according to the BBC. Team: 1 Brill, 2 Ling, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 16 Brophy, 8 Clay, 7 McAnuff, 27 Alabi, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 11 Dayton(Lee 71), 15 Happe, 4 Lawless, 24 Sargeant, 19 Koroma(Alabi 65). Still 13th. Halifax, Gateshead, Sulihull and Chesterfield are joint top with six teams all on one point at the bottom. That may change following a full program of matches on Tuesday. We are away at Maidstone. Video highlights. Bonne signed a two year contract. National League news from the BBC can be found here. 14 August. Away to Maidstone. McAnuff had a knock and was replaced by Dayton. Ling and Alabi were replaced by Judd and Koroma. They found themselves on the bench. Within ten minutes we were a goal up via Koroma. Ekpiteta headed home a Dayton cross 25 minutes later. That’s how it stayed though we let in a late goal on 80’ and Turgott nearly got another in the five minutes of added time. Can I read anything into Ling being on the pitch at the time? Looking at the Maidstone video highlights I can. He failed to cut out the cross for the goal whilst Coulson and Widdowson were nowhere near the header. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 16 Brophy, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 4 Lawless(Brophy 72), 24 Sargeant, 2 Ling(Judd 63), 27 Alabi(Dayton 62). Up to tenth. Dagenham and Maidenhead bottom and Wrexham, Gateshead and Sutton joint top. Home to Boreham Wood next Saturday. They are two places below us. 18 August. Home to Boreham Wood. 1-0 (Bonne pen). The Club preview did not suggest any injuries but Brophy played no part in the match, his place taken by McAnuff. We could have been a goal down after eight minutes but the goal was ruled offside. It took until the 69’ before Koroma was bought down in the area for a penalty that Bonne dispatched. Korroma tried the same trick on Tuesday but got booked for his pains. Edinburgh seemed to think this was the best performance for some time but all I saw were competent performances with Clay outstanding. Coulson went off four minutes into the second half with double vision and was replaced by the more than competent Happe. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe(Coulson 49), 4 Lawless(Lee 87), 24 Sargeant, 2 Ling, 27 Alabi(Dayton 87). Up to ninth and away to fifth placed Gateshead next. All our opposition seem to have at least three players booked every match which make you wonder how many players they will have available later in the season. Not sure how their 12, Fyfield, stayed on the pitch. R Booty of Aldershot has already been booked three times. Maidenhead and Dagenham still bottom with one point whilst Wrexham are top with 13 points. Over 550 fewer people saw this match than the Barrow game. West Ham at home the reason? They lost and are one of five teams without a point. Another five teams have only one point. Ex O’s elswhere: Baudry was sent off for MK Dons, Stockley scored for Exeter who are top of League Two. I thought Victor Adeboyejo (wrong Adeboyejo) had been loaned to Brighton but he has scored two goals in four matches for Barnsley. Alzate has played four times for Swindon without scoring. Video highlights. Gorman and Harrold are nearing full fitness. They played the full match in a friendly against Southend that we lost 0-1. Mooney will not feature for us this season said one source, The local Guardian lead with the news that James Brophy ruled out for 'weeks' with torn hamstring. I am starting an injury watch. Orient's U18s got their season underway with a 1-1 draw at Peterborough United. Team: Samuel Amedu, Alfie Fleming, Jayden Sweeney, Ernold Haxhiu, Mason Hall, Wynford Marfo, Bradley McClenaghan, Brendon Shabani, Lawrence Hammond, Jeremie Sivi (Anthony Papadopoulous 80), Trialist A (Jordon Adeyemi 80) SUBS: Rhys Bryne, Finlay Lovatt, Sonny Perkins. Goal: Hammond. Koroma signed an improved two year contract. Widdowson praised the younger players “they’re all really good footballers. Dan (Happe), Marvin (Ekpiteta) and Myles Judd are all really good players so they know what they’re doing. “It’s really good that they’re all doing well and applying pressure to the older ones like me who have started the season. I’m pleased for them because they’ve done really well.” Another bright young talent in the O’s squad is Shadrach Ogie, who starred for Orient during pre-season after featuring in some of their friendlies. The 16-year-old left-back has been handed a squad number for the campaign and Widdowson has been impressed with what he has seen so far. Asked about Ogie, Widdowson said: “He’s big, strong and an aggressive boy who can play as a left-back or centre-back. Shadrach is good. We’re kind of encouraging him but he’s very young still and he’s got a lot of attributes. “I’m sure if he keeps his head right, he’ll have a good career. It’s more competition and it’s good for me.” Another praised player is Janata. Waltham Abbey assistant manager Ryan Handley believes on-loan Arthur Janata has a ‘very bright future’ ahead of him. “He’s fantastic. I didn’t really know about him that much. Mark Stimson, the gaffer, knew him a lot better than I did and knows Justin Edinburgh really well from playing with him. He’s got a very bright future if he keeps going the way he is going. His distribution and shot-stopping are very good. Hopefully we’ll keep him for the season unless Leyton Orient recall him.” 24 August. The death was announced of former O Gordon Riddick who played for us between 1970-73 after signing from Charlton. He played 21 time scoring three goals before signing for Northampton and then to Brentford where he made 108 apps scoring five goals. He started his career with Luton before moving to Gillingham making over 100 apps for both clubs and amassing 40 goals. 25 August. Away to Gateshead. 1-1 (Ekpiteta). Ten men get a point. Gorman and Harrold made the bench to the exclusion of Lawless and Ling. Despite having most of the play we went a goal down on 77’. Alabi came on for Dayton on 67 but remained only 25’ before being sent off for a poor challenge. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Dayton 67), 17 Gorman(Lee 62), 18 Harrold(Judd 85). Still ninth with ten points. Wrexham are top on 14 and Dagenham at the bottom with one. That is one more than West Ham or Fulham in the top league. Dover next on Bank Holiday Monday. They are four from bottom with four points. Video highlights. Three ex O’s scored in the Crawley v Bury match. Jimmy Smith and Ollie Palmer for Crawley and Chris Dagnall for Bury. That’s five goals in five games for Palmer. Romain Vincelot also turned out for Crawley. 27 August. Home to Dover. 3-0 (McAnuff, Koroma, Harrold). This was not as easy as the score suggests. Edinburgh opted for an unchanged team except the suspended Alabi was replaced by Lawless. How the first half was scoreless is a mystery. A succession of shots were either saved (Lee and Koroma) or went into the keepers arms. Five minutes into the second half McAnuff’s shot cannoned in off a defender. On 81’ Dayton played in Koroma to add a second and in stoppage time Harrold met a first time cross by Judd to make it three. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 4 Lawless(Koroma 90), 17 Gorman(Clay 68), 18 Harrold(Dayton 83). Up to joint third as there are five clubs on 13 points. Halifax are now top on 15points. Away to 15th placed Chesterfield next. Kevin Nolan was sacked by Notts Co who have only one point from five games. He lead to a play-off place last season. Video highlights. Sadly, news has been made available that ex O Ron Newman has died. Ron was born in Portsmouth on the 19th January 1934 & began his professional career at the Pompey after various non- league teams. He joined the O’s in January 1961 and was transferred to Palace in October 1962 making 17 appearances in all competitions, scoring just the one goal. He moved to the States in 1968 where he remained playing for Atlantis Chiefs and played a major part in the story of soccer in Kansas City. With a coaching career that spanned three decades and seven cities, Newman was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1992. He achieved perhaps his greatest success in San Diego, where he won 10 championships, helping the San Diego Sockers become the most dominant indoor soccer team in two separate leagues. Ron still lived in the States where he died on Monday 27th August 2018. He died in Tampa, aged 84. View the top ten Leyton Orient videos from Mat Simpson and the View from the West Stand website. 31 August. Levi Lumeka was signed from Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal. The talented winger links up with the O's on a season-long loan having been the Crystal Palace U23 top-scorer last season, scoring 15 goals in 26 appearances. The 19-year-old has been the Development team's top scorer for the past three seasons and was rewarded with his Premier League debut on September 10 2017, coming on as a substitute in a 1- 0 defeat to Burnley, before making an appearance in the League Cup against Bristol City. Levi will wear the 23 shirt. The U18’s lost 2-0 to Stevenage. Team: Samuel Amedu, Jayden Sweeney, Alfie Fleming, Ernold Haxhiu, Brendon Shabani, Bradley McClenaghan, Amin Benyoucef, Hector Kyprianiou, Lawrence Hammond, Jaedon Phillips, Trialist A. SUBS: Jeremie Sivi, Finlay Lovatt, Sonny Perkins, Kyrille Palmer, Kevin Frimpong. Midfielder Dale Gorman was called up to represent Northern Ireland U21’s in their upcoming fixtures against Luxembourg and Spain. 1 September. Away to Chesterfield. 0-1 (Dayton). Edinburgh named an unchanged team for the fourth consecutive match with Lumeka replacing Lawless on the bench. Brill made a super save after Widdowson was caught napping. Coulson was unlucky with a header which bought an equally good save from their keeper Burton. on the 78’ Widdowson swung over a cross which was cleared as far as Dayton who blasted the ball into the top of the net with the keeper nowhere. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 23 Lumeka, 17 Gorman, 18 Harrold(Koroma 60). Fifth with five clubs on 16 points two of which, Solihull Moors and Halifax we play next. Video highlights. Elsewhere ex O Ollie Palmer was missing a penalty for Crawley who were now managerless following Harry Kewell’s move to Notts County. He did not achieve anything at Crawley which makes you wonder why Notts wanted him. Tommy Carroll hit the woodwork for Swansea who beat Millwall. John Marquis scored for Doncaster and Jordan Bowery got two for Crewe. The club has decided to enter the London Senior Cup where they will face either Haringey Borough or Beckenham Town. 4 September. Home to Solihull Moors. 3-0 (Lee, Bonne, Harrold). Game of Thugs, another epispde. Six bookings, two of which amounted to a red card. Their 2, 3, 5 and 6 did not care how they took players out. Lee, McAnuff, Dayton, Koroma and Judd were felled during the match. We again field the same team except for Lawless replacing Gorman on the bench. Twice Widdowson’s marking left something to be desired and three saves were made by Brill to keep us in the game. At the other two shots went straight into the arms of the keeper whilst two headers from Bonne were way off the mark. It took a McAnuff corner and a Lee header to put us in the lead just before half time. On 56’ their Reckford was sent off for a second reckless challenge. Their keeper took a free kick a yard or so inside their half. Defending found Judd who punted the ball to Koroma. I though he might have lobbed the keeper instead he crossed to Bonne for a simple tap in much like the one against Barrow. On 90’ Judd punted aother great ball this time to Bonne. He opted to shoot but the keeper saved but only palmed the ball to the onrushing Harrold (on for Dayton) to tap home. Lumeka came on for the five minutes of added time. No place for a 19 year-old to be amongst these thugs. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 23 Lumeka(McAnuff 90), 4 Lawless(Lee 65), 18 Harrold(Dayton 82). Joint top but second on goal difference to Harrogate. Braintree are now bottom. Video highlights. According to Besoccer Harrold has played 20’ for his two goals. The club parted company with the Outside Event Caterers following complaints and David Mooney by mutual consent. The U18’s lost at home 2-4 to Cambridge. GOALS: McClenaghan, Phillips. I would like to tell you the team but the Orient website did not have it. They then lost at home to MK Dons 1-2. Team: Samuel Amedu, Jayden Sweeney (70 Jermie Sivi), Alfie Fleming, Hector Kyprianiou (C), Ernold Haxhiu, Bradley McClenaghan, Jordon Adeyemi, Charles Claydon, Wynford Marfo, Brandon Shabani, Jaedon Phillips. SUBS: Rhys Byrne and Lawrence Hammond. Goal: Adeyemi. 11 September. We again fielded the same team but with Alabi replacing Lumeka on the bench. Bonne missed a sitter as did Koroma in the first half. On 64’ Ekpiteta fouled to gave away a penalty which was converted. Alabi came on for Dayton on 81 and scored the equaliser nine minutes later. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Dayton 81), 4 Lawless, 18 Harrold(Clay 75). Down to third. Ex O’s elsewhere. Stockley scored two for Exeter as they thrashed Notts County 5-1 with new manger Kewell being sent to the stands. Why he would leave Crawley mid table for bottom of the table Notts is a mystery. Dagnall got one for Bury and Holman for Aldershot. The U18’s misery continued as they lost at Northampton 5-1. Team: Rhys Bryne, Jermey Sivi, Alfie Flemming, Ernold Haxiu, Wynford Marfo, Brendan Shabani, Lawrence Hammond, Hector Kyprianiou (64: Sonny Perkins), Jaedon Phillips (72: Jordon Adeyemi), Bradley McClenaghan, Charles Clayden. SUBS: Kyrille Palmer and Samuel Amedu. Goal: Hammond. 15 September. Home To Barnet. 3-1 (Coulson, Dayton, Bonne). Unbeaten in 11. Things were going well as early as the 11’ when McAnuff free kck was met by a header from Lee to the far post where Coulson sent the ball high into the net to open his account for the season. But 13’ later Barnet were level through an unstoppable 25 yard shot. That’s how it remained until Gorman replaced Lee and Alabi the out of salts Koroma on the hour. Eight minutes later Dayton cut in from the right and left footed a pearler past keeper Cousins. Ten minutes later Bonne made it three after his shot came off the post and he hit the rebound in. His fifth of the season. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Koroma 60), Gorman(Lee 60) Harrold(Bonne 75). Still third, two points behind Harrograte and that’s who we play next. Video highlights. Elsewhere ex players: Tom Parkes scored an own goal. McCallum scored to earn Eastleigh a point whilst Beautyman scored to give Sutton two points. Liburd scored two for Guisley. Cox scored for Eastbourne but it was not enough to stop his team losing at home 2-4 to ten man Slough. U18’s crashed out of the Youth Alliance Cup 5-2 at Peterborough. Team:Rhys Byrne (Samuel Amedu 45), Jayden Sweeney, Alfie Fleming, Brendon Shabani, Jeremy Sivi, Hector Kyprianou, Lawrence Hammond, Ernold Haxhiu, Jaedon Phillips, Bradley McClenaghan, Charles Clayden. SUBS: Jordon Adeyemi. Goals: Kyprianou and McClenagahn. Forward Ruel Sotiriou has made a 28 day loan move to Isthmian League Premier Division side Bishop's Stortford. 22 September. Away to Harrogate. 0-3 (Bonne, MAnuff 2). Top of the world Ma. Film buffs may recognise those words as the last spoken by gangster Cody Jarrett played by James Cagney in the 1949 film White Heat. We leapfrogged Harrogate and Wrexham to go top by a point. Things were going well as early as 23’ when Lee found Bonne. Cutting in from the left he looked up and placed the ball into the inside netting of the far post. Thirteen minutes later Koroma’s shot could only be parried into the path of McAnuff who slammed the ball into the net. In the 69’ McAnuff scored his second after Koroma centred the ball into his path and he calmly slotted home. Koroma had a couple of off target shots plus one that found the net but was ruled offside whilst Alabi’s shot came off the keepers legs when he was clear through. Edinburgh again fielded an unchanged team. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Koroma 75), Gorman(Clay 89) Harrold(Bonne 90+2). Wrexham also lost 3-0 at Sutton and that is who we play at home next but not before we play bottom of the table Braintree in Essex. Video highlights from Harrogate website. From the Orient website. Elsewhere there were seven red cards in our league including McCallum and Summerfield. Other ex O’s amongst the scorers were Stockley for Exeter, Marquies two for Doncaster and Coulthirst for Barnet. The U18’s get a point at home. Orient were held to a 2-2 draw at Whitbreads Sports Ground by AFC Wimbledon on Saturday morning. Jaedon Phillips was the danger man as Orient were denied a two goal lead by Wimbledon. The O’s would have taken the victory, but a late double blow from The Wombles saw the points shared. Team: Samuel Amedu, Jayden Sweeney, Alfie Fleming, Ernold Haxhiu, Brendon Shabani, Wynford Marfo, Lawrence Hammond, Hector Kyprianou, Jaedon Phillips, Bradley McClenaghan, Charles Clayden. SUBS: Rhys Byrne, Kyrelle Palmer, Jordon Adeyemi, Finley Lovatt, Jeremie Sivi. 25 September. Away to Braintree. 1-5 (Bonne 3, 1 pen, Ekpiteta, Koroma). Tonked. In seasons gone by this would have been a banana skin game. But not this season. The only change was a fit again Brophy replacing Harrold on the bench. Braintree were unlucky as early as the ninth minute when Koroma,s boot was caught as he was about to shoot. Bonne converted the penalty. Shocking defending saw the Iron draw level but a McAnuff chip found Bonne but his shot was blocked but only as far as Ekpiteta who swung early and his shot into the ground bounced into the top of the net. Koroma put the result beyond doubt when he raced onto a through ball from Lee. What the goalie was doing in the field of play only he knows but as he came out Koroma chipped over him into the net. Bonne got a second from Lee’s long through and his hat trick was a deflected shot on 70’. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Dayton 76), Gorman(Clay 65), 16 Brophy (Lee 70). Two points clear at the top. Wrexham and Harrogate could only draw against each other allowing Salford to occupy second place after beating the Monkey Hangers 3-0. Sutton let a two goal lead slip as they could only draw against 23rd placed Dover. We play Sutton Next. Historian Neilson Kaufman was kind enough to supply this information regarding O’s unbeaten run - this was his reply:- If it’s the start of a season: 2013/14 - 12 2018/19 - 13 If it any part of a season then its: 1954/55 - 14 2010/11 - 14 1961/62 - 13 2005/06 - 12. These were all based on League games only. Ekpiteta and Koroma have been selected for the England C squad. David Mooney joined Steve Castle’s Royston Town. 29 September. Home to Sutton. 0-1. Change to set new record goes begging. A game of few chances according to Edinburgh. Widdowson had a header cleared off the line whilst Bonne’s header was too weak to worry the keeper. We did hit the bar. Clay gave away possession in his own half and Brill was beaten to a near post shot on 49’. Sutons had six players booked and they are three from bottom in the Fairplay table. No surprise that Solihull are bottom. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 19 Koroma, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 15 Happe, 24 Sargeant, 27 Alabi(Judd 75), Gorman(Dayton 65), 16 Brophy (Lee 65). Second, one point behind Salford. Away to Maidenhead next. They are 16th in the table. Ex O’s elsewhere: Dagnal was scoring for Bury, Palmer for Crawley, Marquis for Doncaster, Porter and Sutherland for Bromley, Turgott for Maidstone, Bowery for Crewe, Wagstaff for Wimbledon, Akinfenwa for Wycombe and Gnanduillet for Blackpool. The U18’s lost 4-1 at Gillingham. Team: Sean Campell, Kyrille Palmer (Anthony Papadopoulous 78), Diego Bonnie (Sonny Perkins 70), Wynford Marfo, Brendon Shabani Hector Kyrpianou, Ernold Haxhiu, Charles Clayden, Lawrence Hammond, Jaedon Phillips, Bradley McClenaghan (Jordon Adeyemi 75). SUBS: Brian Ifani. Goals: OG. U18’s take on Romford in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Youth cup. They won 2-1. Marvin Ekpiteta (left) was named Vanarama player of the month. 6 October. Away to Maidenhead. 0-2 (Bonne, Alabi). A knee injury to Koroma meant a start for Alabi with Harrold returning to the bench along with Ling. Things were going well as early as the 11th minute when a McAnuff cross was met by the head of Bonne to put us in the lead. On the half hour McAnuff laid the ball off to Alabi who made it two. That is the easy it stayed. Team: 1 Brill, 14 Judd, 6 Coulson, 22 Lee, 3 Widdowson, 21 Ekpiteta, 7 McAnuff, 8 Clay, 11 Dayton, 27 Alabi, 9 Bonne, Substitutes: 18 Harrold(Alabi 79), 24 Sargeant, 2 Ling, Gorman(Lee 75), 16 Brophy (Dayton 70). The other top three clubs all won which means we remain second. The two bottom teams Dover and Braintree both sacked their managers. Home to Hartlepool who beat Boreham Wood then next then the FA Cup. Video highlights. Dover Athletic have appointed Eastleigh boss Andy Hessenthaler, 53, as their new manager on a three-year contract whilst former Braintree Town manager Hakan Hayrettin has taken charge there as caretaker boss while the club look for a successor. Seventh-tier club Wingate & Finchley have named ex-England left-back Nicky Shorey and former Burnley winger Glen Little as their new management team. Kyprianou joins fellow youngster Ruel Sotiriou at Isthmian Premier Bishop’s Stortford, who are under the caretaker charge of former O Jamie Cureton. Haxhiu and Phillips join Isthmian South East side Sevenoaks Town. Leyton Orient chairman Nigel Travis: People said I’d be an idiot to buy this club but I’ve been in love with it for 60 years. Article in the Evening Standard. 13 October. Home to Hartlepool. 0-0. Though, again there was nothing on the Club Preview to say different Lee played no part in the match. Gorman was away on international duty so Edinburgh opted to play Brophy and move McAnuff into midfield. I did not think that worked. A hopeless first half that saw Dayton try three long range shots two of which were off target whilst the third took a deflection for a corner. Koroma did the same when he came on for Brophy who had the chance to put us into the lead but didn’t even hit the side netting. Trouble is that Brophy has never scored more than two goals a season and in 2015-16 he played 31 games for Swindon without scoring though he could have been playing as a defender for all I know. We looked a lot better when Ling, Koroma and Harrold came on but by that time Widdowson had been sent off for a bad tackle after a failing to control the ball. Edinburgh said he would appeal. The referee was to say the least iffy. Adrian Quelch did not play advantage enough for either side and when two of their players received attention neither went off. Have they changed the rules? Somehow Goddard’s free kick found the far post net. McAnuff’s free kick found the near post on 56’ to level the match. Ekpiteta went off on 43’ to be replaced by Happe and it was his clearance to Bonne that set up Koroma who jinked his way passed defenders to blast the ball into the net on 59’. Brophy came on for the unimpressive Gorman on 76’ and his jinking past defenders only found the keeper but a minute later his pass to Clay then found McAnuff whose shot was only parried into the path of Bonne to make the final score 3-1. Wrexham had much of the play if Twitter is to be believed but on 85’ a McAnuff corner was cleared as far as Bonne who smashed the ball high in the net. on 90’ Brophy, on for Dayton made sure the points were heading to E10 after a back pass header fell short of the goalie who was out of his area. They are currently eighth in the Southern League Premier Division South table. November 27. Home to Aldershot. 0-0. Away day. No change in the team lineup with Lee, Grainger and Ling out with leg injuries and Sergeant with a bri=oken wrist. Too may players in the first half were having an away day. McAnuff, Koroma, Clay with the rest under par. McAnuff hit the bar but that was it as far as the excitment went. Aldershot missing two players to injury and two for suspension (?) came and did a job on us by chasing and harrowing every tiem we got the ball. We had no answer to it and took too long to get the ball forward which meant they had 11 players always behind the ball. Twice balls were deflected into the side netting. To waste time their 19 twice took a throw in that did not reach the field of play. Gorman for me again was disappointing. It did improve at half time when Brophy came on for Clay. Alabi had the best chance but his powerful shot found the keepers leg. Former manager Frank Clark was sitting two rows in front of me in the first half. But not the second half. Again in the club preview webpage nothing was said about any injury to Judd but he did not play and was replaced by Ling returning from injury. Too soon maybe as he was replaced by Lawless on 69’. The first half highlight was Koroma hitting the bar only for it to rebound into the arms of the keeper. He did better in the second half on 59’ when a ball from McAnuff beat the offside trap and Koroma beat the defenders and nearing the penalty spot crash the ball into the far net. On 90’ Alabi chased a defender into making a bad back pass and he passed to the unmarked Bonne to hit high into the net. In the eighth minute of added time their Olley got set off for a second bookable offence. Salford won but Wrexham are still in the FA Cup and are joint third on 43 points. They don’t really play out from the back, they make great decisions, and they have got people in there with unbelievable experience. “They have got the young kid Josh Koroma, who everyone is courting at the minute. And, you look at Macauley Bonne, who has been spoken about in terms of Championship sides.” Edinburgh was named as manager of the month. 8 December. Way to Boreham Wood. 1-0. Hopeless? No plan B?
