lost at home to Bradford and FGR are our next away trip
on Tuesday.

15 March Away to Forest Green Rovers (1-1 Sotiriou). A
point against more thugs. Don’t believe me? The BBC had
them committing 19 fouls to our five. Back came Khan and
Drinan for Smyth and Archibald. Slack heading from Ray
and subsequent failure to to cut out the resulting cross
plus a lack of marking lead to a easy goal for them on
10’. Ray went off on 27’ to be replaced with the
excellent Ogie. Suspected hamstring. On 67’ Smith’s
replacement Archibald’s through ball saw us draw level
thanks to the cool head of Sotiriou. Team: 22 Vigouroux,
6 Thompson, 19 Beckles, 3 Wood, 34 Coleman, 35 Ray, 14
Khan, 26 Kyprianou, 9 Smith, 20 Sotiriou, 16 Drinan.
Subs: 25 Ogie(Ray 27), 21 Young, 10 Nouble, 7
Smyth(Sotirou 80), 32 Brown, 11 Archibald(Smith 61). Only
six subs?? BBC Report. Video highlights. Still 20th -
six points from relegation. Home to Rochdale next, three
points above us who have charged with breaches of EFL
regulations following terminated takeover attempt.
Jackett got himself a cushy number as ambassador for
Watford. Maybe he thought that his last job was a bridge
tooo far. After replaicng five players with only half of
the experience of the four leaving then getting in a
player in Reilly who hadn’t played since an injury in
March. Getting rid of midfielder Cissé, selling
midfielder Kemp and getting in three players with only
one league match between them. Finally not getting a loan
midfielder on loan yet moaning about the lack of
experience in the club.
Stevenage started the season with Alex Revell in charge
but he was replaced mid November by Paul Tisdale, touted
by some as a possible managerial candidate in the summer.
This week after 21 games in charge he was replaced by ex
Gillingham manager Steve Evans.
19 March. Home to Rochdale (3-1 Smyth, Sotiriou, Smith).
And finally. At last, after a winless run of 16 matches,
a win. Khan was replaced by Smyth, Smith by Archibald and
the inured Ray by Ogie. We went a goal down after six
minutes when again a header out failed to find a red
shirt and no marking on the right highlighting the need
for a proper right back and not a stand in. Ogie looking
where the ball was rather than to whom it was going. Five
minutes before the break Sotiriou fed Smyth who applied a
little bit of magic before blasting the ball in from 30
yards. On 58’ Smyth’s cross found Ogie on the far post
and Rochdale failed to clear the ball. Kyprianou’s pass
found Sotiriou whose shot found the far corner of the
net. Two minutes later Smith, on for Smyth suffering
cramp, found the net with a free header after good work
from Archibald. BBC Report. Video highlights - a closer
look. Video highlights. Up to 18th and nine points from a
relegation place. Away to Harrogate Tuesday.
I have taken a slightly different view of the line-ups,
listing players then in brackets scores out of ten from
supporters then supporters comments.
22 Vigouroux (7), Couple of decent stops. (7.5) Reliable
as usual
6 Thompson (7.5), He has been excellent the last three
games,(6) I'm not sure he is mobile enough, got caught a
couple of times
19 Beckles (6), Defence under a lot of pressure first
half and they dealt well with most of it. (6.5)
3 Wood (6), Solid enough. (6.5) Looks a better player
since RW came in.
25 Ogie (7), Good game if not quite his imperious best.
(6.5)
34 Coleman (5), The manager will know we need much better
next season.
26 Kyprianou (5), (4) floundered. Coleman and Hector are
just so slow. neither of them offer much else. Two quite
similar players who seem to shirk tackles and offer no
goal threat.
20 Sotiriou (7), Another goal. Drifted in and out. (6.5)
feed him and he will score.
16 Drinan (7.5), He doesn’t stop running and what I like
about him. (6) should have scored first half.
7 Smyth (7.5), Worldie goal and got better and better as
the game went on. (6.5) wonder goal but not a lot else.
11 Archibald (6.5), Plenty of huff and puff. (6.5)
improved as the game went on but a few too many stray
passes.
Subs: 9 Smith(Smyth 75’), (6), (6.5) a goal and some nice
touches.
18 Pratley (Coleman 64’), (7) just what we needed in the
middle.
14 Khan (Kyprianou 70’), (6.5) still not sure what his
best position is.
21 Young, 10 Nouble, 32 Brown, 1 Sargeant.
22 March. Away to Harrogate (0-3 Drinan 2, Sotiriou)
Revenge for our defeat to them earlier in the season and
it was our longest run without an away win since 1997.
Back into the line up came Khan and Pratley whilst
Coleman and Smyth warmed the bench. We started like out
lives depended on it with about nine shots in the first
half which ended goalless. But six minutes into the
second half a header from Pratley found Drinan a couple
of yards inside their half. He hared into the area and
shot us into the lead with his right foot after a couple
of touches. Six minutes later a long throw from Ogie
found the head of Beccles. Drinan was on the end of it
and found the net first time with his left. On 73’ the in
form Sotiriou was played in by Drinan. A defender slipped
and he calmly slotted into the net. Game started without
any Smiths/Smyths and ended with three. A Harrogate
supporter had this to say “five minutes of kick-off as we
found ourselves thoroughly outclassed, outfought and
outrun by a visiting Leyton Orient team who played like
Town used to.” Team: 22 Vigouroux, 6 Thompson, 19
Beckles, 3 Wood, 25 Ogie, 14 Khan, 11 Archibald, 18
Pratley, 26 Kyprianou, 20 Sotiriou, 16 Drinan. Subs: 1
Sargeant, 34 Coleman, 35 Ray, 9 Smith(Drinan 81), 21
Young(Archibald 83), 10 Nouble, 7 Smyth(Sotiriou 76).
BBC Report. Video highlights. Up to 17th 15 points away
from relegation. Home to 21st placed Barrow on Saturday
and away to Oldham, two places below Barrow, on Tuesday.
Barrow have just appointed Phil Brown as manager.
Reilly was loaned to Solihull Moors for a month, could be
the last we see of him.
26 March. Home to Barrow (2-0 Smyth, Sotiriou). Wonder
goal or lucky cross? Smyth started to the exclusion of
Khan. The first half was frustrating with chances going
missing and Sotiriou hitting the bar then his header was
well saved by their goalie. Drinan took a touch when it
was easier to hit it first time. Seven minutes after the
break Smyth found himself with the ball on the edge of
the area with their keeper alongside. Turning he hit the
ball straight into the net first bounce. Genius or lucky?
This from the London Football Scene “Connor Wood played a
ball in behind Barrow’s defence for Paul Smyth to round
Farman and produce a sumptuous dinked finish from a
seemingly impossible angle to open the scoring.” Ten
minutes later a low free kick into the area failed to be
cleared and Sotiriou controlled it with his right before
left footing it into the corner of the net for 2-0. The
BBC wrote “From thereon, the home side totally dominated
the match and - as a result - collected their third-
successive win to leave Barrow just six points above the
drop zone.” Team: 22 Vigouroux, 6 Thompson, 19 Beckles, 3
Wood, 25 Ogie, 7 Smyth 11 Archibald, 18 Pratley, 26
Kyprianou, 20 Sotiriou, 16 Drinan. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 34
Coleman, 35 Ray(Thompson 85), 9 Smith(Archibald 81), 14
Khan(Smyth 85), 21 Young, 10 Nouble. BBC Report. Video
highlights. Still 17th. Away at 23rd placed Oldham on
Tuesday.
29 March. Away to Oldham (2-0). With Archibald suspended
for two matches and fined £750 for mouthing off to the
ref against Carlisle Wellens made a further four changes
as Khan, Pratley, Drinan and Thompson made way for Ray,
Coleman, Nouble and Smith. An own goal by Ray and a last
minute one after Vigoroux had gone up for a corner did
for us. "I'll take the blame, because probably too many changes at once,"
Wellens said. "We wanted to give players an opportunity and I don't think they
took that, if they look in the mirror.” "I'm fair, I want to give opportunity but the lads
that came in didn't do themselves justice." He admitted that three of
them had knocks. Supporters were not happy and their
ratings reflected that: LV 5, Khan 2, Wood 3, Beckles 3,
Ray 2, Hector 1, Coleman 3, Smyth 3, Smith 2, Nouble 1,
Sotoriou 2, Pratley 2 Brown 2 Drinan 2. f*cking DOG sh*t. Plus
these comments: Up there as one of the worst performances of the season. Lineup
was all wrong tonight. Richie would have learned tonight who to bin and forget.
Hector and Coleman are still young but are not currently at L2 standard on that
showing. I would also look to offload Smith. That was a terrible half-arsed
performance tonight, and he lacks the mobility to play in a system like that. I've seen
enough. Bin him off assuming we can find anyone to take him, which seems
doubtful. Team: 22 Vigouroux, 14 Khan, 19 Beckles, 3 Wood,
35 Ray, 7 Smyth 9 Smith, 26 Kyprianou, 34 Coleman, 20
Sotiriou, 10 Nouble. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 18 Pratley(Coleman
61), 25 Ogie, 21 Young, 16 Drinan(Nouble 56), 28 Nkrumah,
32 Brown(Smith 70). Three shots all match despite 66% of
the play as you can read in this BBC Report which says a
lot about the midfield, or lack of it. Video highlights.
Still 17th. Away at Walsall Saturday.
2 April. Away to Walsall (0-2 Smith, Khan). A travelling
381 O’s supporters saw Khan stick it to his last
employers as he made one and scored one. The players
given a chance at Oldham didn’t get another as Ray,
Coleman and Nouble returned to the bench. Smyth was on
maternity leave. Back came Drinan, Ogie, Pratley and
Thompson. A cross from Khan in the tenth minute found
Smith and the big man lost his two markers to score his
15th goal of the season. Six minutes later a training
ground routine from a corner was touched on by Sotiriou
and Pratley left it for Khan to score his first goal for
the club albeit via a deflection. Sotiriou nearly made it
three when a bad clearance from their keeper found him
but his long range effort needed to be a yard higher as
the keeper got back. A Wellens interview revealed he
thought Khan was a number 8 even though he was signed as
a right back. Interviewed later Khan said he was happy to
play at eight. Team: 22 Vigouroux, 25 Ogie, 6 Thompson,
14 Khan, 19 Beckles, 3 Wood, 9 Smith, 18 Pratley, 26
Kyprianou, 16 Drinan, 20 Sotiriou. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 35
Ray, 21 Young, 10 Nouble(Smith 80), 28 Nkrumah, 34
Coleman(Sotiriou 83), 32 Brown(Pratley 90+4). More shots,
eight with less of the play, 42%. Not as many as the
Brighton v Norwich game where 37 shots failed to find
their target. BBC Report. Video highlights. Up to 14th.
Fifteen points away from a play-off place! Away at Sutton
Saturday.
9 April. Away to Sutton (1-0). Sotiriou won SkyBet League
Two Player Of The Month but started on the bench. Smith,
Thompson and Coleman where ill whilst Wood got an injury.
In came Moss, Sweeney, Smyth and Archibald. 70% of the
play got us nowhere with only nine shots, two on target.
Young came on and it took five minutes for him to foul
someone. We went a goal down on 21’. Some thought
Vigouroux flapped at it. Team: 22 Vigouroux, 17 Moss, 24
Sweeney, 25 Ogie, 14 Khan, 19 Beckles, 18 Pratley, 26
Kyprianou, 7 Smyth, 16 Drinan, 11 Archibald. Subs: 1
Sargeant, 35 Ray, 21 Young(Moss 75), 10 Nouble, 28
Nkrumah(Sweeney 84), 20 Sotiriou(Smyth 68), 32 Brown.
BBC Report. Video highlights. Still 14th. Seventeen
points away from a play-off place! Home to bottom placed
Scunthorpe on Good Friday.
The club introduced a new website which appears to be
better than the last one. At least finding the results
for the U18’s seems to be easier. Not as quick off the
marks as Northampton who posted their home defeat before
we did. We won 0-3 thanks to goals from Lorenzo Saponara
10’, Zecharia Obiero 22’ and Mert Apat 66’.
15 April. Home to Scunthorpe (3-0 Smyth, Archibald,
Sotiriou). Nearly 300 Scunny fans saw their club
relegated out of the league after being elected in 1950.
The game was over after the 30th minute when we went
three-nil up. Despite hitting the woodwork three times in
the second half we failed to score more. On 15’ Smyth cut
in from the right a fired in from an acute angle. Nine
minutes later a ball from Drinan found Archibald and his
curling shot put us two nil to the good. Brown’s long
cross into the area was flapped at by the keeper and
Sotiriou found the net with a diving header off the post.
Brown started his first game under Wellens. Moss and
Sweeney were dropped whilst there was also no place for
Coleman or Ray. Ogie and Khan were on the bench. Mitchell
returned after his surgery but did not have a good game.
Team: 22 Vigouroux, 3 Wood, 6 Thompson, 19 Beckles, 18
Pratley, 32 Brown, 26 Kyprianou, 15 Mitchell, 16 Drinan,
20 Sotiriou, 11 Archibald. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 21
Young(Smyth 73), 10 Nouble, 28 Nkrumah(Drinan 68), 9
Smith(Sotiriou 62), 25 Ogie, 14 Khan. BBC Report. Video
highlights. Still 14th.
18 April. Away to Swindon (1-2 Beckles 2). Swindon were
10th before this game only two points from a playoff
place. Thompson got a late injury and Khan replaced him.
Ogie also returned for Brown. Beckles put us in the lead
on 20’ following a free kick from Archibald. Three
minutes either side of the goal Kyprianou was booked. The
second followed his sending off was after he tackled back
after a poor pass. Not his first sending off as it
happened at Crawley last season. In a bid to sure up the
defence Smyth was sacrificed and replaced by Coleman.
Beckles got his second after Swindon had failed to clear.
Swindon got one back but the defence held bolstered by
substitutes Brown and Mitchell. Team: 22 Vigouroux, 3
Wood, 14 Khan, 25 Ogie, 19 Beckles, 18 Pratley, 7 Smyth,
26 Kyprianou, 16 Drinan, 20 Sotiriou, 11 Archibald. Subs:
1 Sargeant, 21 Young, 15 Mitchell(Sotiriou 78), 28
Nkrumah, 34 Coleman(Smyth 27), 32 Brown(Archibald 65).
Only six subs due to Thompson’s late injury. BBC Report.
Video highlights. Up to 13th.
23 April. Home to Northampton (2-4 Archibald, Brown).
From manager Wellens “First 15 minutes we were
competitive. Played with our flip-flops on. Most of us
were on holiday. Vigouroux - Beckles - Shad, so slow.
Played into their hands. Momentum left us [following
Ogie’s dismissal]. If we had a big enough squad [for
competition amongst the players”. Cannot argue with any
of that Beckles, Prately and Coleman were poor, Sotiriou
anonymous. We were good until the 19’ when a free kick
and passes went unchallenged and Pinnock’s rocket found
the roof of the net. They added another on 32’ and 38’.
Finally a spark of life and Smyth outrun four defenders
to pass to Archibald to tap home. That lasted two minutes
when Felix-Eppiah, yards offside scored his second. Brown
replaced Coleman at the break and his well taken goal got
us one back on 50’. But that was the end of the goals so
when Ogie got sent off for putting his face in an
opponents the game was over. Ogie is apparently the most
fouled in this division and it followed his third in this
match. Thompson’s season is over following groin problem
so Khan was at back. Smith replaced the away with the
fairies Sotirou but picked up an injury and was a limping
passenger for the last 15 minutes. Team: 22 Vigouroux, 3
Wood, 14 Khan, 25 Ogie, 19 Beckles, 18 Pratley, 7 Smyth,
34 Coleman, 16 Drinan, 20 Sotiriou, 11 Archibald. Subs: 1
Sargeant, 21 Young, 15 Mitchell(Khan 52), 28 Nkrumah, 32
Brown(Coleman 45), Smith(Sotiriou 51), 24 Sweeney. BBC
Report. Video highlights. Still 13th and away to 12th
placed Crawley on Saturday.
Wellens on the two sendings off "highly preventable"
“Ogie will miss first game of next season but if we are
playing well he may miss six or seven”. “Four, maybe five
contracts” is what Wellens said and I am supposing he
means current contracts for renewal. According to
Trasnfermkt we have 12 players out of contract. They name
Thompson, James, Sotiriou, Kyprianou, Sargeant, Reilly
and Sweeney. Sweeney signed a two year deal last summer
according to the O's website. Pratley, Young, Byrne,
Papadopoulos are also named but their contracts have an
option for a further year. Nkrumah was also named but he
signed a deal last September and I would imagine that was
for 15 months? Though the website does not state how long
the deal was for.
Rumour has it that Ipswich and Spurs are two friendlies
lined up in the summer and that Mitchell would like
another year on loan.
30 April. Away to Crawley (0-2 Archibald, Drinan). Their
manager John Yems, is suspended while allegations of
discriminatory behaviour are investigated. We went a goal
up on eight minutes when a long kick from Vigouroux found
Archibald and the Crawley defence napping when he chipped
ex O’s goalie Morris. Drinan had his penalty saved after
Smyth was bought down. Morris also saved the headed
rebound. He made up for it five minutes into added time
with a well taken goal. Brown had a good shot saved by
Morris whilst Khan’s shot was saved on the goal line.
Ogie, Smith, Pratley and Sotiriou were missing through
suspension, injury and illness. Returning were Kyprianou,
Brown, Mitchell and a début for Obiero. Also on the six
man bench were Nkrumah and U16 Smith-Kouassi. Team: 22
Vigouroux, 3 Wood, 14 Khan, 15 Mitchell, 19 Beckles,
Kyprianou, 7 Smyth, 29 Obiero, 32 Brown, 16 Drinan, 11
Archibald. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 21 Young(Smyth 80), 28
Nkrumah(Khan 73), 34 Coleman(Obiero 61), 36 Smith-
Kouassi, 24 Sweeney. BBC Report. Video highlights. Still
13th and home to play-off chasing Tranmere on Saturday
and they need to win to stand a chance.
Post match Wellens mentioned the contracts he wanted done
in the next week. An extended contract for Drinan and
renewals for Sotiriou and James whilst wanting Archibald.
That may be a problem ans the Lincoln manager annouced he
would be leaving the club in the summer and he did not
see a future for Theo at Lincoln. If his coaching staff
feel the same we may be in with a shout. Otherwise the
incoming manager will have the final decision.
Next season we will be facing Wimbledon, Gillingham,
Doncaster and Crewe as they drop into our division.
Leaving the division will be Forest Green and Exeter with
possibly Northampton taking the third automatic promotion
place. Stockport are in poll position to come up being a
point clear and a game in hand of Wrexham. Relegated are
Kings Lynn, Weymouth and Dover who started the season
with a points deduction too great to overcome.
7 May. Home to Tranmere (0-1). James returns. Also
returning was Thompson but despite 64% of the play we
were unable to find the net. James hit the post. On 37
Wood was left in the unenviable position of trying to
mark two players. When the cross came in it was hit by a
flying header from Hemmings and that decided the game.
Tranmere had to win to be in with a chance of a play off
place but results did not go their way. Thompson, having
barely put a foot wrong was Man Of The Match. Team: 22
Vigouroux, 3 Wood, 2 James, 6 Thompson, 19 Beckles, 26
Kyprianou, Pratley, 7 Smyth, 32 Brown, 16 Drinan, 11
Archibald. Subs: 1 Sargeant, 20 Sotiriou(Smyth 66), 15
Mitchell(Pratley 66), 9 Smith (James 56) 28 Nkrumah 29
Obiero, 34 Coleman. BBC Report. Video highlights. We
ended the season in 13th.
Angol got another contract at Bradford and celebrated by
opening the scoring in the 13’. Ollie Palmer scored two
for Wrexham to beat Stockport and got top but Stockport
still have a game in hand. Wrexham visit eighth place
Dagenham for their final match whilst Stockport play 10th
placed Torquay then fourth placed Halifax both at home.
High jinks at the top of our league ended with a
complaint from Northampton as they were pushed into a
play off placed when Bristol Rovers beat Scunthorpe 7-0
and them into automatic promotion. Exeter finished in
second to Forest Green Rovers on goal difference (7).
With the Cobblers in the play offs were Port Vale,
Swindon and Mansfield.
The Supporters Club gave £40,000 to the Club to replace
the “adequate” lighting with something up to Championship
standard. REAL ALE STATS 2021/22 from the Supporters
Club: By our calculations you’ve drunk c. 22,968 pints of
real ale & 10,208 lagers/ciders meaning we’ve poured on
average 158 real ales & 70 lagers an hour.
The Club announced its retained list. Leaving would be
Reilly and Papadopoulous. Pratley played a number of
games triggering a clause in his contract for a further
year. Thompson, Byrne and Young all had a option in their
contracts which the Club took up. Sargeant, Sotiriou and
James had been offered further contracts. All loanees
returned to their clubs.
The rumour mill regarding signings was in full swing with
the first being 20 year-old striker Jake Young just
released by Forest Green who had just lost their manager
to Watford. Halifax defender Niall Maher was next. The
26-year-old was named as the Shaymen’s club captain this
season and has been a mainstay in the team.
Tom James signed a two-year contract. Some supporters
were not bothered if Sargeant or Sotiriou did the same.
Stockport were promoted after beating Halifax 2-0 and
Wrexham lost at Dagenham 3-0 with McCallum scoring one.
The Daggers missed a play off place by one point. A host
of ex league clubs were in the play offs, Halifax, Notts
County, Grimsby and Chesterfield with Solihull Moors
making up the numbers. Maguire-Drew scored for Grimsby in
a 4-4 draw at Eastleigh. Abrahams replaced him on
63'minutes. Demetriou was sent off playing for Southend.
Charlie Lee has been interim manager since Darren Sarll
left for Woking. But he didn’t get the job and left the
club.
Ebou Adams left Forest Green Rovers for Cardiff. Josh
Coulson was one of 16 players to be released by Southend.
Also leaving their clubs would be Dan Holman at Torquay,
Tom Carroll (Ipswich), Scott Kasket at Crewe and Scott
Cuthbert at Stevenage, one of 15 players. Nigel Atangana
is among eight players released by Exeter City. Ray was
not one of them.
Rumour Mill 2. Harrogate defender Ryan Fallowfield has
been allowed to leave the club. He’s made over 100 apps
and has two promotions on his CV.
20 May. Sotiriou signed a two year contract.
Dorking and York were promoted from National Leagues
South and North to join champions Gateshead and
Maidenhead. Surprising how many ex league teams there are
in the North League. Kidderminster, Boston, Southport,
Hereford, Darlington, Chester and Bradford Park Avenue.
None in the South League. How are Macclesfield and Bury
doing since their banishment to lower leagues?
Macclesfield were champions of the North West Counties
Premier League and promoted to the Northern Premier
League Division One. Bury were also champions a division
below and were promoted to the division Macclesfield had
just been promoted from.
We wouldn’t be signing Jake Young as he joined Bradford
for an undisclosed fee. Cissé was released by Oldham. Dan
Moss was not offered a new contract at Millwall. He
signed for Woking to join the ex Yeovil manager there.
Joe Widdowson was released by Barnet, John Marquis from
Lincoln. Josh Coulson signed for Kings Lynn. Gavin Massey
left Wigan after five years. Cole Kpekawa who we had on
loan from QPR 2015-2016 has joined Maidenhead from Hemel
Hempstead. He was signed by Barnsley for £450,00 but
played only a handful of games for them before his career
took a downward turn playing for Colchester, St Mirren,
Billericay and Chelmsford. The most games he ever played
any of them was six for Hemel last season. The most games
he ever started for a club was eight, for us.
Pre season friendlies were announced: Fri 1 July –
Haringey Borough (A) – 7pm KO.
Sun 2 July - Sun 9 July – Portugal trip – Fixtures TBC.
Tue 12 July – Maidstone* (A) – 7pm KO.
Tue 12 July – Potters Bar Town (A)* – 7pm KO.
Sat 16 July – TBA (H) – 1pm KO.
Tue 19 July – Portsmouth (H) – 7pm KO.
Sat 23 July – Dagenham & Redbridge (A).
Tue 26 July – Walthamstow (A)** – 7pm KO.
* The squad will be split into two for these fixtures.
** An Orient XI will be fielded, with some first-team
members and players from the academy.
Rumour mill 3. Dion Conroy and Rob Hunt both ex Swindon
were reported as possible targets as was Ipswich Town
midfielder Idris El Mizouni. Some wags thought that as an
inexperienced, injury prone 21 year-old he was ideal.
Apps 34(19) scoring three goals playing for Town,
Cambridge United (twice on loan) and once on loan to
Grimsby. He played against us for them a season back.
Port Vale took the last promotion place beating Mansfield
3-0. No place for Johnson not even on the bench. The last
promotion place from the Northern Premier League will be
between Grimsby and Solihull Moors. To be played at the
Olympic Stadium 6 June.
Rumour mill 4. QPR defender Conor Masterson.
Danny Johnson was transfer listed by Mansfield. They also
released goalkeeper Marek Stech who played two games for
us on loan back in Feb-May 2012. At Bromley Dennis and
Alabi were in talks over new contracts. They released
Scott Wagstaff who played 6(1) games for us on loan from
Charlton Oct-Nov 2012. Ben Chorley left his job of
Director of Football at Swindon.
Maguire-Drew scored the winning goal for Grimsby as they
took the last place in the promotion race to our
division. After being a goal down at half time he came on
on 66’ scoring the winner on 111’ following extra time.
Abrahams came on 101’ for the Mariners whilst Reilly came
off the bench on 109’ for Solihull.
Rumour mill 5. Jamie Steery a defender at Hartlepool who
still has another year on his contract.
7 June. Thompson signed a two year deal.
8 June. Archibald signed a two year deal for an
undisclosed fee from Lincoln. Sargeant still to sign and
Wellens wanted an extension on Drinan’s contract.
10 June. Jephte Tanga and Harrison Sodje signed their
first professional contracts. Sonny Fish, has been called
into the Wales U18 squad for the first time.
Rumour Mill 6. Old, injured or
both. The 37 year-old Derby
centre-back Curtis Davies is
the latest link along with 30
year-old right-back Kieron
Freeman.
Ross Embleton became Head of
Recruitment at Colchester.
Matt Young signed a one-year extension to his contract.
Stuart Nelson has signed for Dover where manager Andy
Hessenthaler has also offered Myles Judd the opportunity
to attend pre-season to prove his fitness. Scott Cuthbert
has signed a one-year deal with Working.
Rumour mill 7. Anthony Michael Georgiou (born 24 February
1997 in England and is of Greek Cypriot descent.) Is a
Cypriot professional footballer who plays as a left back
for the Cyprus national team. He barely started for Spurs
before being loaned to Levante B, Ipswich and Bolton
before signing for AEL Limassol in the Cypriot First
Division. But played in a mere 32 games scoring three
goals for all of them. He has played eight times for
Cyprus but not since 2019. According to Soccerbase he has
only started three games in England with a further 13
from the bench.
One time alleged target last November Brandon Comley
joined Walsall. He played 16(1) games for Dagenham last
season.
22 June. Hector Kyprianou signed a three-year deal for
Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee. (Allegedly
£300,000 plus sell-on). This was rumoured two days
before along with another that we was to sign George
Moncur of Hull.
Victor Adeboyejo had been released by Barnsley. Kashket
joined Gillingham. George Ray had his Exeter contract
cancelled and moved to Barrow. Freddie Moncur and Jimmy
Smith were released by Grays.
A week ago in a video Episode One of pre season training
Wellens stated that he was expecting two or three

29 June. But it did today. Moncur signed a three year
deal after his contract at Hull was cancelled and we paid
an undisclosed fee. The 28 year-old began at the Hammers
but appeared in only one game - from the bench. Spent
four months on loan to Wimbledon playing 20 matches
scoring two goals. He joined Partick for three months but
only appeared from the bench twice scoring one goal. In
the summer of 2014 he joined Colchester for an
undisclosed fee and after 85(12) and 23 goals made a
£500,000 move to Barnsley following Colchester's
relegation to League Two. Here he played 45(31) games
scoring nine goals. A four month loan to Peterborough
followed in 2016 starting seven games with a further
eight from the bench with three goals. Another
undisclosed fee found him at Luton in January 2019. But
after 21(38) and 11 goals he moved to Hull last June on a
free. The new manager did not play him as he appeared in
only 8(8) games without scoring. See his goals. The
Yorkshire Post said this “Former Barnsley player Moncur's
departure comes as little surprise after only seven
Championship starts last season, when he was hampered by
injuries.”
Cissé joined Eastleigh. Josh Doherty has joined South
Shields. Not that he ever played for us after being
signed from Watford in 2016. We loaned him to Altringham
before he went back to Ireland with Ards. He returned to
England and played four seasons with Crawley. He was
loaned to Colchester and also played for Barnet and
Portadown.
