I originally wrote  A History Of Leyton Orient FC 1965-1974 and put it on the internet around ten years ago and I got the idea of making a diary based on the History on the Club's website by Neil Kaufman. My history is now here and I have added dates. I have based any other information that I could find on the internet and from any programmes I have. Links to where I find the information are below plus all the books of Neil Kaufman and Alan Ravenhill. The way I hope this to work is to populate the site with pictures that have appeared on the Orient FC Remembering the 70’s Facebook site. As well as any pictures from the press or the programmes. If the programme article has historic content then I will slot them into the relevant date in the diary as you can see with the picture right. Or the one below taken some time maybe in 1934 relating to an article on Halliday. Clapton Orient 1914 Clapton Orient (1920-1929) Useful websites: You might try this website which has line ups, scorers and attendances from 1905/06. If you want to see a list of football research sites see here. All the Orient results 1966-67  but navigate from here for other seasons using the Select Year and Select League drop down buttons. Only for league results. Here for tables The Soccerbase site is a good place to start for information but don't expect line-ups in matches much beyond 1995. Their FA Cup dates also need work on. The 11v11 site is better with correct FA Cup dates. For all the scores and league positions for all seasons see The English National Football Archive which is where the info below comes from. The ENFFA site also has line ups and appearances at a price. I have not listed these as all information is in Leyton Orient The Complete Record 1881-2006 but I will add them for the period since 2006, should I live that long! Results prior to our election to the League is vague on line though I did dig this up from this site. A list of players for these seasons can be found in the Big Red Book. 1905-Joseph Henry Butler (b.1879 - d.1941) was in goal for Clapton Orient in their first Football League match 2/9/1905 away at Leicester Fosse. He was signed from Stockport County and returned to them after a single season with Orient. He was later a First Division championship winner with Sunderland in 1912/13 and an F.A. Cup runner up in the same season.

Update November 2018 This too is a lovely gesture from the club, our club:- Leyton Orient can confirm that proceeds from an auction of match-worn commemorative kits will go towards erecting a permanent gravestone at the resting place of legendary Orient Captain, and the first footballer to sign-up for the Footballers’ Battalion in World War I, Fred Parker. Fred ‘Spider’ Parker (full name Frederick George William Parker) was the Captain of the Orient side that became the first English football team to sign up en-masse for World War I following a meeting at Fulham Town Hall in December 1914, and even met with Prime Minister H.H Asquith to discuss his ideas of the formation of a Footballers’ Battalion. Parker was the first player to reach 300 appearances for the O’s and left the Club having played 336 times. He currently lies in an unmarked grave in New Southgate. Leyton Orient will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, and the Club’s special role, by wearing a commemorative kit for the match against Bromley on November 17. The shirt dons the iconic red chevron, similar to the shirt worn by the Club’s war heroes. The Club would like to thank our kit sponsors Dream Team, Goldline, The Energy Check and ReThink for allowing the use of an unbranded kit for this fixture. At the conclusion of the match, the match-worn shirts will be auctioned to supporters and the money raised will go towards creating a permanent gravestone for Fred Parker, and the British Legion.
